TEAM INFORMATION
Team Eligibility
| To be eligible to dive on the SAND team, you must have completed the San Antonio Divers Learn to Dive Program or be evaluated by the team's head coach for placement. | |
| To be eligible to dive on the SAND Novice teams you must be able to complete the minimum novice competition requirements for your age group. | |
| To be eligible to join the SAND Junior Olympic teams, you must have the minimum JO requirements for your age group and tryout for a spot with the head coach. |
Monthly Fees
Fees are paid monthly for 11 months (Indoor Season - Sept. to May and Summer Program - June and July). All fees must be paid by the 10th of each month. There will be a $10.00 late fee charge for any fees after the 10th. SAND does not Pro-rate monthly fees for any reason for full time members, if you decide to take a vacation or attend a diving camp, you are still responsible for the full month. For new members the first month tuition can be pro-rated if you do not start on the 1st of the month.
Pre Team - SAND Diving Skills Level I
This group meets two days a week during the Indoor season and four days a week during the Summer program to develop age group skill level necessary to advance to the Junior Team level. They concentrate on skill levels on dry-land drills on the floor, tumbling, trampoline, strength and balance, side of the pool/platform, and 1 and 3 meter springboards. Dry-land work is a large component of their daily training. Divers will register and compete in AAU events.
Junior Team - SAND Diving Skills Level II
This group meets three days a week during the Indoor season and four days a week during the Summer program to develop age group skill level necessary to advance to the JO Team level. They concentrate on skill levels on dry-land drills on the floor, tumbling, trampoline, strength and balance, side of the pool/platform, and 1 and 3 meter springboards. Dry-land work is a large component of their daily training. Divers will register and compete in AAU events.
Junior Olympic (JO) Team - SAND Diving Skills Levels III and IV
This group meets four days a week during the Indoor season and four days a week during the Summer program to develop age group skill level and required dives to compete confidently at the Novice level, while striving to initiate competition at the JO level. This team will participate in Invitational Meets and perhaps Regional Championships, at the discretion of the coach. They concentrate on skill levels on dry-land drills on the floor, tumbling, trampoline, strength and balance, side of the pool/platform, and 1 and 3 meter springboards. Dry-land work is a large component of their daily training. Divers will register with both AAU and USD.
JO Pre-National Team
Divers in this age group practice five days a week. Members of this team have achieved basic full lists for JO competition in their age group and are working toward National level lists. Divers will compete in Invitational meets, Regional and perhaps Zone Championships. Anticipate out-of-state travel for both Regional and Zone Championships. Divers will register with both AAU and USA Diving.
San Antonio Divers National Team
This group practices five days a week and some Saturdays. Members of this team have demonstrated the skill level to compete at the National level. Two National Championships are held each year. Athletes compete at Regional Championships to qualify for indoor (Spring) Nationals, which is divided into West and East Nationals. The Summer program starts with a rigorous summer training schedule, which includes platform training. Summer Regional Championships are held in June. Divers then progress to Zone Championships and onto the Speedo JO National Championships. Expect several out-of-state travel experiences each year and perhaps international travel based on qualifying events. Divers may be selected to compete in Senior level competitions at the coaches discretion. Divers will register with both AAU and USA Diving.
